SOCIAL IMPACT

A dignified shopping experience building confidence and courage

SOCIAL IMPACT

Everyone deserves to feel good when they get dressed

I've always been told I'm a little different; and I've learned to embrace my individuality. Here you will learn about going beyond the basics, books for the babies, creative outings for the little ones, and so much more. Over time, we will conduct virtual education classes to pass these tools onto your children, and teach other Modern Mami's!

BEYOND THE BASICS

Beyond the basics is an idea that we as Mothers, go beyond the fundamentals provided by systems that are designed to educate, inspire, and motivate our children to do and be great. Teaching beyond the information we are given we strive to share about diversity, cultural traditions, non traditional family values, social issues, advocacy & policy, all of which elevate our children above and beyond to understand various perspectives, create community, and empathy, while becoming well rounded little beings.  As a community we can share free resources, events, educational documentaries, support those in need, and organize to build and lift each other up.

MAMI'S SELF CARE METHODS

Mami we sometimes get lost in the daily tasks, the to-do lists, cleaning and organizing, working, teaching, and all of the above!  I know that I am so good at reminding my friends and family to take time for theirselves, to be kind to their bodies, and feel their own soul I forget to do those things for myself!  Self care looks different to everyone!  Whether you take a vacation all by yourself (I did this for my birthday trip to Palm Springs), having a spa day, going to a restaurant you've been wanting yo try, a concert, treating yourself to something you've been wanting, there is no right or wrong way to take care of you! Mami meet ups are in the works, in which we can have that girl time, and let loose a little!

BOOKS FOR THE BABIES

Whether you're a book worm, or love gifting books, we celebrate writers, poets, educators, and authors who are change makers, and spread the spirit of love and acceptance.  Reading to our children is so important to build an excitement to learn and explore, build imagination, and teach all the wide topics of our society.  Below you will find a link to hundreds of books for our children to learn about culture, races, social justice, being bi-racial, and living in a diverse community. These lists are curated by Social Justice Books, a Teaching for Change Project.  Some topics include: Afro-Latinx, Culture and Language, Change makers, Poetry, Voting Rights, Hair, Music, and Racial Identity.

CREATIVE OUTINGS

As children we experience so many firsts.  From our first steps, to our first words, each first is just as special as the last. As a Modern Mami we strive on allowing our children to also celebrate their first time at a museum, first free concert, cultural celebrations, street fairs, art shows, tattoo expos, ballets, and sound baths.  As we show the possibilities early in childhood, the creative outlets, the musical outlets, we show a world of opportunities, and spark goals and dreams early on.  Although bringing a 3 and 7 year old to an Art Museum may not always be easy, it is appreciated, and paving a way towards an ever greater future.  Mindful Mami will be sharing our favorite outings, local events, and everything in between!

MAMI WITH A MESSAGE

Each month we will highlight a Mami with a Message!  This is a Mami who is going above and beyond, a change maker, and shape shifter to uplift, inspire, and educate others.  They are a Mami who inspires and motivates others, comes from all walks of life, and doing things their way!
