SOFIA DANGERFIELD

Founder & President

Sofia is a Bay Area native, growing up in Union City, CA. She has over 15 years of experience in the Fashion Industry, Sustainability, and Community Work. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Apparel Design and Merchandising, and a Masters of Arts in Family and Consumer Sciences, from San Francisco State University. She founded the Mindful Mami Collective to educate, support, and inspire her community to make a difference in the area of sustainable fashion. Her clothing program, the Community Closet has served over 1,000 families and continues to grow each year.

DR. CONNIE ULASEWICZ

Secretary

Having taught in the Apparel Design and Merchandising (ADM) program at San Francisco State for over 20 years, I am so pleased to continue the learning process with this community. Clothing as a vehicle for self expression, is too often cast away when its value remains and can continue to grow in the hands and on the body of another.

MELISSA TORRES

Treasurer

Melissa is a 3rd generation Union City native with 20 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Operations and management.

She brings a depth of experience which will allow the organization to expand, help families in the local community, and throughout northern California. She is passionate in executing financial records for the organization, that will provide opportunities and allow the brand to be successful.

ANGELICA PHILLIPS

Volunteer Trainer

Angelica has been a volunteer of the Community Closet program since the inception in 2021. Angelica holds a Bachelors of Science, in Human Development and Family Studies from Cal State East Bay.

Her passion to teach and serve others has led her to become our lead volunteer trainer. She continues to enhance our event experience, while leading with compassion and leadership.

ESMERALDA VILLALOBOS

Opperations & Logistics

Esmeralda grew up in the bay area and has been involved since the start of Mindful Mami Collective-Community Closet. She graduated from UC Berkeley with her Bachelor’s in Political Science and recently
obtained her MBA. She has experience in management in the private sector and more than 13 years in the public sector. She has experience in labor negotiations, payroll, permitting and land development. Her passion is helping those in our community that are most vulnerable: our youth. Mindful Mami is a platform to help bridge the needs of the community by providing tools and guidance to resources that are already available. Esmeralda is a Spanish speaker, and first generation to attend college; her goal is to help equip the upcoming generations to resources of empowerment, self-confidence, education and
networking so that they can reach their goals in a positive environment. Esmeralda has helped in maximizing the operations of the Community Closet by taking statistical date, analyzing better methods and provide actionable solutions to create a better experience at each event.

KATHY VILLALOBOS

Event Coordinator

Kathy is a Union City native, and has been involved with the Community for decades. She has been a core member of the Mindful Mami Collective since it's inception, and has helped support the event planning and coordination of the Community Closet.

Having over 20 years of leadership and event planning, Kathy has be able to create a dignified and beautiful shopping experience at the Community Closet program. Kathy is a Spanish Speaker, and is able to support multilingual families and community members ensuring they have the best experience at our events.
